NEWS CENTER - The Italian delegation that wanted to visit Shengal and Makhmur was prevented by Iraqi forces. 

 

An Italian delegation of doctors and volunteers visited Iraq in solidarity with Makhmur (Mexmur) and Shengal (Şengal). However, the delegation was prevented by Iraqi forces. According to the news in Rojnews, the delegation, which wnated to pass to Shengal after being prevented in Makhmur, was turned back from Tal Afar and detained in Mosul. 

 

The Health Committee of the Shengal Autonomous Administration stated that an Italian delegation consisting of doctors and volunteers visited Shengal in 2023 and developed some projects in health and other fields and wanted to observe the ongoing projects and services on site. However, the Committee stated that the visit was not realised due to the obstructions of Iraqi forces and that new projects were also prevented.

 

The Italian delegation, which provides health and education assistance to refugees, wanted to visit the Martyr Rustem Judi Refugee Camp in Makhmur on 18 May, but the delegation was not allowed to enter the camp by Iraq and was turned back.
