The ecologist, feminist and socialist BastA! Party announced its support for the “I want to visit Abdullah Öcalan” campaign initiated by the European Forum for Freedom and Peace (EFFP). 

 

BastA! Party Secretary General Franziska Stier joined the campaign on behalf of her party and sent a letter to Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunc requesting a meeting with Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

In the letter dated 7 June 2025, it was stated that Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society" made on 27 February had a great resonance in the international arena.

 

Franziska Stier stated that this call offers a “historic opportunity to build a habitable world” and added that “without contact with Mr Öcalan, we cannot understand his thoughts propersly” and that the meeting should take place without restrictions. 

 

“For the future of Turkey, Kurdistan and the Middle East, possibilities for a democratic and egalitarian solution must be created”, Franziska Stier added.
